The permanent team at Career Teachers are seeking a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a specialist provision in Stockport, Greater Manchester. You will be supporting children with complex needs such as learning disabilities, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Aspergers Syndrome.

This incredible primary school based in Stockport has a range of facilities, such as a hydrotherapy pool, spacious outdoor play areas, a sensory garden with beautiful scenery, two multisensory rooms and two soft play areas. They offer a vibrant and exciting curriculum with emphasis on independence, life skills, communication and physical development. The primary school's most recent Ofsted report rated them as OUTSTANDING in all areas.

The successful Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant will -

  • Provide regular feedback on children's progress to the class teacher and file records.
  • Be responsible for keeping and updating records, information and data, producing analysis and reports as required.
  • Assist the teacher, ensuring a safe classroom and outdoor environment, checking materials and personal equipment for defects and implement risk assessments carried out by the teacher according to school guidelines. This will include cleaning equipment used by pupils and ensuring its accessibility.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil responses to learning activities through observation and planned recording of achievement against predetermined learning objectives.

The successful candidate will need -

  • An NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or a minimum of 1 year experience in a specialist provision
  • To be committed and passionate
  • To have a willingness and ability to undertake HLTA Level responsibilities (refer to HLTA standards)
  • To have a willingness to undertake first aid training as appropriate
