We have an exciting opportunity in St Albans UK for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our Highways Active Travel and Infrastructure team.AECOM is an internationally recognised leader in highway consultancy providing clients with services including planning design project management and asset support. There are many exciting opportunities for graduates to join our UK and Ireland teams supporting projects across Europe the Middle East and Africa.The Highways team delivers a wide range of projects for funding agencies national and local governments highways authorities and private organisations. Our graduates gain exposure to projects from concept through to construction and operation taking on roles in design project management stakeholder engagement business innovation and technical/site assurance.You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team gaining hands-on experience with industry-leading tools and contributing to projects at all stages from early feasibility studies through to detailed design construction support and contract administration.What were looking forWe are seeking ambitious hardworking and enthusiastic Civil Engineering graduates with strong computational mathematical and design skills. Successful applicants will use industry-leading software and BIM tools while gaining exposure to key areas such as:Transportation economics and planningFeasibility and corridor studiesEnvironmental assessmentsHighway and streetscape designTraffic management planningPavement and drainage designUtility relocationVulnerability and security systemsIntelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)Our graduates will also have the opportunity to work across both Traffic Engineering and Highways projects ensuring broad technical training and varied career development.Qualifications : BEng in Civil Engineering General Engineering with a 2:1 (or equivalent) or aboveMEng in Civil Engineering General Engineering with a 2:1 (or equivalent) or above would be an advantageHighways/Roads modules or experience would be an advantage Ability to demonstrate a good technical understanding of Highways Engineering Demonstrable interest in Highways Engineering and developing a career in this industry Willing and able to work towards chartership with the CIHT or ICE Good Microsoft Office skills essential such as Word Excel & PowerPoint Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external clients both verbally & in writing with the confidence to engage with a variety of people (clients colleagues stakeholders and sub-contractors alike) and the aptitude to rationally explain explore and discuss technical issues and capture feedback Enthusiastic hard-working with ambition and drive Ability to structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team as a whole Ability to work in a team and independently without losing initiative & focus.
