Location - Gillingham

Salary - The salary is currently between £17.04 - £17.71 per hour DOE, however, this will be increased shortly

Hours - Monday - Thursday 6.00 - 16.30 or 7.00 - 17.30 (4 x 10 hour shifts)

Permanent full time role

Our client is a specialist design and manufacturer of HVAC equipment to a variety of industries both in the UK and globally.

Responsibilities for the role of Welder

  • Seek ways to improve processes and performance in line with company continuous improvement program
  • Responsible for ensuring allocated tasks are conducted in a safe manner in accordance with applicable standards, company procedures/policies Ensuring no activity by you or any colleague is conducted that may put any person at risk, directly or indirectly or cause any damage or pollution to the environment Also, any allocated equipment, tools etc are used in a safe and correct manner and not subjected to misuse or abuse
  • To follow direction and instructions from the Manufacturing Supervisor or Leading Hand
  • Be familiar with and able to use plant for TIG and MIG welding process
  • Follow drawings and paperwork provided and notify of any discrepancies
  • Weld equipment to the required level to meet customer expectation of quality
  • Responsible for producing high quality/integrity products
  • Ability to fabricate, demonstrate skills relating to measuring, drilling, cutting etc.

Skills and Experience for the role of Welder

  • Experience in fabrication and welding workshops
  • City & Guilds or equivalent welding qualification
  • Forklift truck license beneficial, but not essential
  • Overhead crane or jib crane certificate beneficial, but not essential
  • Previous shop floor experience
  • Problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills with staff and clients
  • Able to read and understand manufacturing drawings
  • To identify and suggest solutions to problems
