They're currently seeking an experienced AWS Data Engineer to join their dynamic team and contribute to critical architecture evolution projects. Role Overview:


As an AWS Data Engineer, your main objective will be to aid in the transition of their existing product to a cloud-based solution to leverage the benefits of scalability, flexibility, and cost-efficiency. Historically, the product was built using Java and hosted on-premises. They now aim to migrate to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to modernise the infrastructure, improve performance, and enhance their ability to innovate rapidly.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Support System Evolution: Plan and evolve their production systems to scale effectively.
  • Data Pipeline Deployment: Create and deploy new data pipelines in production environments with robust monitoring capabilities.
  • AWS Administration: Perform various AWS administration tasks to maintain system integrity and performance.
  • Database Management: Scale, tune, and optimise databases for improved performance.
  • Advocate Best Practices: Promote infrastructure as code (IaC) and cloud best practices across the team.


Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:


  • AWS Proficiency: Extensive experience with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, Aurora, and Kinesis.
  • Containerisation & Orchestration: Expertise in containerisation and orchestration technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
  • ETL Process Knowledge: Familiarity with various ETL process approaches, both within and outside AWS.
  • Database Optimisation: Proven experience in managing and optimising databases, including writing performant SQL.
  • Production Environment Management: Experience in monitoring and managing production environments within AWS.
  • Scripting Skills: Highly skilled in Python or other scripting languages.
  • Development Practices: Proficiency in using Git, IaC, and CI/CD practices.
  • Java Knowledge: Familiarity with Java (beneficial).
  • Agile Processes: Familiarity with agile methodologies, particularly using Jira (beneficial).
  • Azure Ecosystem: Knowledge of the MS Azure data warehousing ecosystem, such as ADF (preferred).
