Job Description

Join Barclays as a Java Lead, where you’ll be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, and deploying enterprise-grade Java applications with a focus on scalability, security, and performance.
  • Leading a team of developers, ensuring best practices in coding standards, architectural design, and quality assurance.

To be successful as a Java Lead, you should have:

  • Extensive experience in Java development, with expertise in frameworks like Spring, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
  • A solid understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
  • Proficiency in database management systems, including both SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Redis).

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proven ability to deliver robust solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
  • Familiarity with code versioning tools (e.g., Git).

You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in this role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

This role is based in Knutsford.
