A Newly Qualified ARRs GP, you will be allocated to our Acute Care Team working alongside Allied Healthcare Professionals to help deliver acute, on the day demand, as well as harness the benefits of local team working.
Our team centred approach includes team huddles, regular clinical meetings, quarterly protected learning time meetings as well as a thriving and busy social calendar with an annual SHP Shining Stars Awards ceremony.
We recognise the transition from working as a trainee into an independent practitioner and will support you with a dedicated SHP Partner mentor and a named clinical supervisor in addition to the wider support package being offered by BSol ICB.
Main Duties of the JobTo perform as an autonomous general practitioner working independently and with other health care professionals to assess, diagnose and treat the conditions of patients attending within the Acute Care Team within SHP PCN.
Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues and ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence.
To be professionally accountable and responsible for all elements of clinical practice in accordance with the GMC code of conduct, ensuring the safety of patients and the quality of their care is the focus.

SHP is a single GMS practice and Primary Care Network with a growing list size of 57,000 patients and over 200 staff members. All 7 sites are in proximity with our patient demographics varying from affluent working professionals in Solihull to the middle and lower socioeconomic groups based in Shirley with an elderly population.
Job ResponsibilitiesIn accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will be available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.
Triage patients presenting to the surgery by telephone, online and in person.
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health and promoting healthy lifestyle strategies and education.
Manage long-term conditions and patients with complex problems.
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards. Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements.
Check, manage & process patient test results.
Refer patients to secondary care and/or relevant organisations and internally within the PCN (eg to additional roles members of the PCN team) as required.
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible) in line with local and national guidelines.
Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake the duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care in a surgery on a PCN basis.
The post-holder will undertake a fair share of home visiting sessions per week as allocated.
