Role Summary

To provide underwriting and development support. To lead with underwriting on our commercial and agricultural products. To provide a professional and comprehensive underwriting and administration service within the business, with a strong emphasis on underwriting, customer service and broker development.



Role Responsibilities:


Underwriting / Development

  • Develop, negotiate and support the underwriting of new business/renewals within your authority and in line with the underwriting strategy.
  • Achieve sustainable growth through the development of relationships with the company’s network of brokers.
  • Support the Business Development Manager
  • Plan, prioritise and manage individual own work to deliver objectives and meet agreed service levels to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Regular calls or visits to broker offices to develop the brokers' accounts / make iFarm the insurance provider of choice for brokers.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters and support staff.
  • Keep abreast of market trends and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions.
  • Help review current products and make sure they are market leading but also delivering underwriting profits.
  • Roll out new products to the market and contribute to the development of the underwriting guide and rates.
  • Liaise with brokers daily, answering incoming telephone calls and chasing brokers for any additional information required and service all back-office duties.
  • Lead development meetings with Key Brokers and focus on growing broker accounts.
  • Review online journey and make recommendations around efficiencies.
  • Support with Policy Issuance

Compliance

  • Maintain knowledge of internal controls and all procedures relating to underwriting.
  • Ensure you uphold Imperium's principle of Treating Customers Fairly
  • Undertake training relevant to the role.



Education and Qualifications

  • CII is preferred but not essential.



Knowledge & Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience, with a proven track record of underwriting and developing relationships.
  • Ability to manage own time, meet deadlines and prioritise work.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of agricultural or commercial insurance products and the regulatory environment.
