The Role

As a Solutions Designer, your primary role will be partnering with our business customers across the UK’s trading divisions to identify, shape and facilitate delivery of fit for purpose solutions to meet business needs and drive measurable value to the organisation. The role will exist to enable the successful delivery, standardisation, quality and cost effectiveness of both IT solutions, Applications & Services across the Business environment. Required to build strong relationships with stakeholders up to exec level, the Solution Designer will provide thought leadership and identify opportunities that will facilitate successful..



Key responsibilities:

  • Drive business value through identifying, shaping and delivering fit for purpose technology solutions
  • Have experience of Application migration and Application system landscape definition
  • Proficiency in MS Azure Integration to architect and implement cloud-based solutions, including infrastructure design, data storage, analytics, and integration with other systems
  • Provide overview of current in house systems and their capabilities, while being able to assess the viability of incoming applications migration into the strategic landscape.
  • Understand the full service transition from project to BAU support lifecycle.
  • Assist business customers with adopting new 3rd party provided technology solutions in line with AJG standards and policies
  • Govern IT investment across Business and Systems change portfolio to ensure compliance with IT strategy, standards and policies
  • Providing technical advice and support to Business, IT and 3rd Party partners in matters related to Solutions to ensure that developments meet required standards



Your Profile

Key skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Strong experience in Application Integration Solutions and App Migration for newly acquired companies
  • TOGAF or equivalent accredited
  • Expertise in Azure or other cloud platforms
  • Experience in an application and data background
  • Business Analysis/Architecture/Designer exposure
  • Strategy and Roadmap production
  • Analysis and Design capabilities
  • Governance frameworks
  • Project and development lifecycles
  • Insurance industry applications knowledge
  • Should have experience in Insurance industry
  • Experience in Solution Designer position is required.


Good to have:

  • Demonstrate the value of technology to the business
  • Govern solution implementations to ensure they are secure, compliant and reliable
  • Promote re-use of existing solutions, use of standards and alignment with policy to reduce technical design debt
  • Advise on opportunities to exploit technology solutions
  • Perform as a valued member of team technology, both as the domain expert and significantly contributing to the success of the wider IT agenda
