What you'll be doing Do you want to be a part of the team that protects history for generations to come? We are looking for a Technician to join the UK Parliament's Heritage Collections Team. In this hands-on role, you'll play a key part in relocating and consolidating the nation's Parliamentary heritage collections. You'll support the Lead Storage Technician to prepare objects for safe transport, working closely with contractors during packing, decant, moves, and re-stowage. In this role, you will also install collections in high-profile locations on the Parliamentary Estate. You'll handle a wide range of historic items, including artworks, furniture and decorative arts, applying best practice at every stage, and provide advice on packing and handling techniques to ensure their integrity. Alongside the physical work, you'll use software such as spreadsheets and the Collections Management System to maintain accurate location data and keep the process running smoothly. What we're looking for. Heritage expertise - Experience in collections management and object movement within museums, galleries, historic houses, or similar heritage settings. Collections care know-how - Solid understanding of standards, processes, and security in collections care, plus hands-on experience moving and installing a variety of historic objects. People skills - Ability to build strong relationships and work confidently with stakeholders at all levels, always promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. Meticulous attention to detail - Ensuring the right objects are moved, records are accurate, and everything complies with health, safety, and collection care standards.
