Senior Cloud Security Engineer (Permanent)

Join a leading financial services firm in the City embarking on a Cloud transformation programme. As the Senior Cloud Security Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering fully automated and scalable solutions.
Role Overview:
As a Senior Cloud Security Engineer, you will have broad responsibilities to engineer and secure our core Azure platform services across our global footprint. You will design, implement, and maintain secure cloud architectures, security policies, procedures, and best practices. Additionally, you will develop and enforce cloud security controls, conduct security assessments, audits, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and manage cloud security tools and services such as SIEM, IaM, and DLP.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on security incidents, incident response, and disaster recovery plans.
- Investigate and respond to security incidents, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Provide guidance and training to team members on cloud security best practices, technologies, and countermeasures.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud security threats, technologies like Python/PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, Azure DevOps CI/CD, and Kubernetes.
- Build monitoring systems that alert on symptoms rather than outages.
- Document every action to turn findings into repeatable actions and automation.
- Improve operational processes (such as deployments and upgrades) to enable scaling.
- Design, build, and maintain the core infrastructure to support business growth.
- Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack.
- Plan the growth of the infrastructure as the business scales.
Qualifications:
- Strong passion for cybersecurity and protecting cloud-based assets in a Financial Services environment.
- Proactive mindset in identifying and addressing potential security risks.
- Keen attention to detail and ability to think like an attacker.
- Desire to continuously learn and adapt to the ever-evolving cloud security landscape.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure technologies (OS Compute, Storage, Networking, Security, Management) and Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or similar technologies.
- Interest in Open Source development and industry innovation.
- Familiarity with configuration management systems like Ansible.
- Collaborating and communicating both synchronously and asynchronously.
