Essential Requirements

  • Civil/Structural/Geotechnical Engineering Degree
  • Minimum2 years’ experience
  • Chartered Engineer with IStructE, ICE or IEI
  • Proficient in Robot, Tedds, AutoCAD, Revit, LimitState, RC Detailing
  • Experience in Temporary Works design, sheet piling, soil nailing, excavation support
  • Experience in Bridge/ Highway structures Design
  • Working both independently and as part of contractor teams
  • Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines
  • Full driving license


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertake civil, structural and geotechnical design works for a varied range of projects including Wastewater, reservoirs, highway structures
  • Projects will be taken from the conceptual stage through to full detailed design/ construction
  • Design of foundation systems including traditional footings, piled and raft designs
  • Super-structure design in reinforced concrete, steel and timber, including calculations, construction detail drawings
  • Production of reports including structural assessments, contract documents, calculation packages
  • Use various computer software programs which will include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access), AutoCAD and more specialist software.
  • Occasional site visits for inspections or investigation work (e.g. structural surveys, foundation inspections and resolving site queries).
  • Compliance with Designer’s responsibilities under the Construction (Design &Management) Regulations 2015/2016(NI).
  • Assistance with Principal Designer duties as required
  • Attendance at meetings with team, clients, contractors and statutory bodies, including Technical Approvals as required
  • Provide supervision and training to apprentices.

  • Preparation of fee proposals and winning work
  • Accountability for project budget
  • Keeping the QA procedures up-to date, including electronic versions
  • Process improvement and implementation of new processes
  • Presentations/Marketing to new Clients
  • Identification of key contacts/ markets
  • Resourcing of the office
  • Mentoring junior Engineers
  • Assistance in the preparation of H&S plans, Risk Assessment
