By systematically dissecting the mechanisms underlying human genotype-phenotype relationships the labs work promises to advance the application of human genomics.The Findlay lab was established in 2020 and currently is home to 2 postdocs 4 PhD students and 1 staff research scientist. The lab and the Crick are highly committed to maintaining a supportive research environment and strongly value collegiality and sharing of expertise.As a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Findlay lab you will lead independent research projects with considerable autonomy to influence the course of the science whilst benefiting highly from the collaborative environment of the lab.This is a great opportunity for you to develop in your research skills and make major contributions to the field of functional genomics. See here for more information about the lab.What you will be doingMultiple post-doctoral projects are available depending your area of interest. We are keen to better understand how variants in the human non-coding genome lead to disease phenotypes by studying fundamental mechanisms of gene this broad area potential projects include:Developing new multiplex assays to study effects of variants on gene regulationDeveloping strategies to record complex molecular phenotypes to DNAEmploying prime editing to produce massive data sets designed to advance computational models to predict gene expressionRevealing new mechanisms of genetic disease by assaying large sets of variants prioritised from human cohorts leveraging databases such as Genomics EnglandAbout youYou will have:(Minimum criteria *)PhD awarded or in the final stages of PhD submission *Strong track record of scientific contribution as evidenced by publications preprints or submitted manuscripts *Expertise in bioinformatics human genomics or analysis of high-throughput data *Deep knowledge of molecular biology *Ability to clearly document work and communicate results effectivelyAbility to work efficiently as part of a teamAbout Working at the CrickOur valuesEveryone who works at the Crick has a valuable role to play in advancing the Cricks mission and shaping our cultureWe arebold.
