DescriptionManaged Moves CoordinatorPermanentGrade CConsultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity ReviewWorking 36.5 hours per weekThe role is hybrid however the post holder would be required to work from Birmingham City Council buildings as business needs dictate.Are you passionate about ensuring that every child thrives and fulfils their potential by attending and succeeding in school regularly Birmingham City Council is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Children and Families Directorate as a Managed Moves Coordinator.In this vital role you will be part of a team providing high-quality alternative provision for young people who require educational provision under section 19 of the 1996 Education Act including those with medical needs using notifications from schools and children subject to off-site direction or a managed move ensuring they are offered appropriate provision.If you have a strong background in education including behaviour and preventing exclusion experience family support services and excellent leadership skills with a commitment to safeguarding we want to hear from youAs a Managed Moves Coordinator you will be responsible for:Identifying children requiring alternative provision under section 19 of the Education Act 1996. Using notifications from schools and children subject to off-site direction or a managed move ensuring they are offered appropriate provision Building collaborative relationships with schools and partner agencies in the locality or as allocated. Helping to remove local barriers to full time education and ensure statutory requirements are met.Providing high quality advice signposting and supportive questioning in relation to offsite direction managed move or provision under section 19 of the 1996 Education Act including telephone and email queries.Facilitating or contributing to multi agency meetings in cases when notifications of children potentially requiring section 19 provision are received.Disseminating national best practice in relation to offsite directions and managed moves. To ensure schools and settings are kept up to date with changes in national policy to ensure compliance with statutory dutiesWork collaboratively with sharing panel co-ordinators ensuring practice is evidence based and compliant with statutory guidance in relation to offsite directions and managed moves.Contributing to the identification of key themes across the local authority by reporting trends and local barriers to full time education.Raising concerns with senior managers children are not receiving the support they need or where there are concerns that statutory obligations/regulations are not being met.Ensuring IMPULSE and other relevant contact recording systems and databases are regularly updated following interventions.Operating with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality at all times.Complying with local safeguarding arrangements early help and the SEND code of practiceWe are looking for candidates with a good standard of education possessing NVQ3 / A level or equivalent and who possess two years casework experience in schools youth services social care or local authority attendance services. Additionally the successful candidate should have experience of working within statutory timescales offering advice support and guidance with experience of extensive working with a variety of different agencies.The successful candidate must possess the ability to work independently within clear guidelines being responsible for their own actions and organisation of their own workload. The candidate must also possess the ability to effectively collaborate within a team environment and demonstrate the ability to work to tight timescales with accuracy in a pressurised environment.
