Introduction:The Athenaeum was built in 1824 by the Architect Decimus Burton. The Athenaeum is a Private Members Club in the heart of central London on the corner of Pall Mall and Waterloo Place.The Club offers 15 bedrooms and a variety of social spaces and a collection of exclusive dining experiences our Members can enjoy with other Members and their guests.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is going to be a hands-on, people focused role.

We are seeking an energetic and well-organized Banqueting Manager to provide our Members with a first-class banqueting experience.

As the Banqueting Manager you will manage the day to day running of the Banqueting and Events department, maintaining all standards, policies & procedures relating to food and beverage service within thedepartment, with a strong emphasis on staff training and event planning.

You will develop a close relationship with Members and build effective working relationships with all Club departments to ensure maximum efficiency for responding to Members requirements. You will work closely with the Operations team for event execution whilst having the ability to promptly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action, to ensure the execution of all events to the highest level of service.

Key responsibilities:

  • Train, coaching, performance management and people development
  • Operating the facilities profitably
  • Planning well so each event runs smoothly
  • Managing your food andbeverage team
  • Briefing staff and checking the room set-up before the event
  • Ensuring the room is turned around, ready for the next event
  • Managing stock level
  • Roster and holiday planning
  • Liaise with supplier and external companies to cater for special events
  • Managed department budgets ensuring the maximization of profit while maintaining guest and employee satisfaction
  • Help to control labour, stock and all costs and budget
  • Proven experience in planning events
  • Flexibility to work varied hours.
  • Exceptional organisational ability to plan banquets
  • Good level of written and spoken English
  • Demonstration of ability to learn quickly and adapt to change.
  • The finest personal presentation
  • Knowledge of Jonas Club Management Software is preferred however not essential
