A leading legal technology company is looking for a Principal Solutions Engineer to bridge the gap between groundbreaking legal technology research and the needs of their most sophisticated clients. This role is based in London and reports to the Head of R&D.


Key Responsibilities:

- Engage deeply with clients to understand their legal research, workflow, and intelligence challenges, serving as a link between the clients and the R&D team to ensure the technology solutions are relevant and impactful.

- Collaborate with the Principal Research Engineer to advocate for and guide the development of technological solutions tailored to the needs of top-tier legal organizations.

- Translate complex technological capabilities into practical legal applications, educating both clients and internal teams about the potential and limitations of legal tech solutions, including Large Language Models.

- Foster a collaborative environment between the R&D, clients, product, and engineering teams, ensuring that R&D initiatives are integrated into broader product development goals.

- Contribute insights into market needs, client challenges, and technology trends to shape the R&D strategy.

- Drive innovation by identifying new opportunities for legal tech development and advocating for solutions that position the company at the forefront of the legal technology sector.

- Mentor and support the growth of R&D team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and excellence.


Key Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with a law degree being an advantage but not essential.

- At least three years of experience in a legal setting, such as a law firm or a legaltech company, with a strong understanding of the practice of law, its workflows, pain points, and regulatory environment.

- Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating complex technological concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

- Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept to application in a legal environment, showcasing creativity, problem-solving skills, and a strategic mindset.

- Experience in leading or contributing significantly to projects that apply technology to solve legal problems, focusing on usability, efficiency, and innovation.

- Familiarity with current technology trends, particularly Large Language Models, and their application within the legal sector.

- Leadership qualities that inspire collaboration, innovation, and excellence within a cross-functional team environment.

- Hands-on experience with information retrieval systems is highly desirable.
