We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team at a special needs school in Hillingdon, starting in February 2025. The school supports students with a range of needs, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges and autism. This full-time, temporary role offers a fantastic opportunity to work with children who need additional support in their learning, providing them with the tools they need to thrive.About SEN Schools:Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools offer tailored education and support for students who have a variety of learning and behavioral needs. With smaller class sizes and dedicated staff, SEN schools foster a nurturing and supportive environment for both students and staff.Key Responsibilities: * Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH needs and autism. * Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery, ensuring that students are engaged and supported throughout the day. * Help develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies tailored to students’ specific needs. * Promote positive behavior and assist in managing challenging behavior in a constructive way. * Support students in building social, emotional, and academic skills, helping them to navigate their learning environment. * Monitor and track students’ progress, providing feedback to the teacher and other relevant staff. * Collaborate with other professionals, such as SENCOs, therapists, and social workers, to meet students’ diverse needs. * Assist in maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom environment.Requirements: * Previous experience working with children, ideally in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) or autism setting. * Valid and up-to-date DBS check on the online update service. * Knowledge of SEMH, autism, and behavior management strategies is highly beneficial. * Strong communication skills and a positive, proactive approach to working with children. * Ability to work well within a team and independently when required. * Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.Why Apply? * A rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with SEMH needs and autism. * Competitive daily rate (£80-90) based on experience. * Supportive working environment with a focus on professional development and training. * Full-time, temporary role with the possibility of future opportunities.If you’re passionate about working in an SEN environment and want to help children with autism and SEMH needs achieve their potential, we would love to hear from youTo apply, please submit your CV and cover letter outlining your relevant experience and availability
