Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Remote


You will be part of a Group IT Infrastructure team that is responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining the IT infrastructure and will provide technical support & guidance across the internal users within the group.

As an Infrastructure engineer you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Manage, support and upgrade Windows servers in an enterprise environment.
  • Administer Hyper-V virtual environments.
  • Manage and upgrade SQL Servers, ensuring their high availability and security.
  • Understanding networking and firewall principles to ensure their optimal performance.
  • Participate in problem-solving and troubleshooting for infrastructure-related issues, providing quick and accurate solutions.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Ensure infrastructure security through appropriate practices and techniques.
  • Being part of the out of hours escalation , on-call rota
  • Working with the Project managers and 3rd parties to deliver Infrastructure solutions
  • Work within an ITIL framework for Incident, Problem & Change resolution
  • Managing and maintaining various monitoring tools to identify problems and vulnerabilities, then working on solutions – e.g., Office 365 Defender, Nessus, PRTG, SentinalOne
  • Provide a technical escalation route for the Service Desk team



The ideal Infrastructure engineer should have the following experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or a similar role with hands on configuring Servers and Hypervisors
  • Strong experience with Windows Server, Hyper-V,
  • Highly dynamic and fast paced environment
  • A deep understanding of Server and infrastructure best practices
  • Previous experience with the following would be preferred: Windows Server 2016-2022, Hyper-V, PRTG, Windows AD domain, Microsoft 365 technologies including Azure AD and compute
  • Good, professional communication skills in person/phone/email
  • Natural aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Can use own initiative, work independently with proactive approach
  • an eye for delivering efficiency and improvements
  • strong technical knowledge
  • and Fortinet experience advantageous
  • ITIL 4 qualifications advantageous
  • Highly organised and able to work on own initiative to complete the range of tasks required
