Role: Mechanical Engineer & senior mechanical engineers Sector: Renewable energy, Hydrogen, Carbon, Oil + Gas Experience: 3-15 years is ideal Location: Exeter and onsite 5x days per weekSalary: £ competitiveBenefits: cash plan, pension 5%, 25 days holidays, critical illness, income protection, cycle to work Travel:You don't have to travel with this role BUT if travel is a passion we can facilitate that as we work with clients in Australia, Alaska and Malaysia and plan to add more locations in 2026You can be deployed to design and test equipment for up to 1 month if you wishGrowth Plans:Not only are we established but we also have huge growth plans for 2026 and plan to triple our turnover.Luckily we are only 1 of 3 companies likes this in the UK and have won many awards for growth and engineering in the UK.About the role:We are looking for an experienced or Senior Mechanical Engineer within the Products division, you will join a team passionate about pushing the boundaries of engineering to develop the next generation of onsite safety & monitoring equipment, which are deployed in extreme environments.This role is challenging intellectually as the product and technology is innovative and ground-breaking and therefore you need to be a critical thinkerYou will be expected to independently drive design projects, apply sound engineering judgement, and provide technical oversight across development and sustaining activities. This position combines hands-on design with system-level thinking—supporting both new product development, optimisation, and iteration of existing concepts.You will take a leading role in refining product designs, resolving complex technical challenges, and ensuring design outputs meet the reliability, safety, and manufacturability standards required by the Energy sector. Key Responsibilities:Lead full-cycle design: requirements capture, CAD modelling, calculations, tolerance analysisPrototype, assemble, and validate performanceOversee qualification testing for environmental and field complianceManage BOMs, ECNs, QA records, and specifications in line with QMSEnsure adherence to industry standards and internal processesDrive design improvements based on field feedback and production issuesConduct structured root-cause analysis and implement corrective actionsLiaise with electronics, software, production, and sales teamsProvide technical input to customer queries, proposals, and tendersMentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviewsPromote a culture of professionalism, flexibility, and high standardsRequired skills:A minimum of 5 years’ industry experience post-graduation as this is high tech and complicated technologyA 2:1 or higher BEng/MEng degree in in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive, Aeronautical or Mechatronics Engineering.Fluency with 3D CAD tools (preferably Autodesk Inventor).Engineering calculations including pressure containment, mechanical strength, and thermal performanceA proactive attitude with the ability to self-manage and lead without needing instructionExperience managing technical documents on and change control in a PLM system.Desired skills:Familiarity with design for manufacture (DfM) and design for assembly (DfA).Exposure to oilfield tool design, high-pressure environments, material selection for harsh environmentsFEA, material selection on for harsh environmentsHands-on prototyping or workshop experienceAnyone from an automotive, energy, or Defence sector but not essential at allTo apply:Send your CV to: danni@cortechtalentsolutions.co.uk
