Lead Design Engineer

Our automotive lighting client based in Redditch is searching for 2 x Lead Design Engineers on a permanent basis, 39 hours a week.Main Purpose:To assist Design Team Leaders in day-to-day design activities.Key Duties / Responsibilities: Responsible for producing 2D/3D CAD using CATIA V5 or software required. Maintain components and assemblies in line with Bee / customer specifications and standards.Coordinate design engineering activities to meet customer technical requirements from initial concept to production.Responsible for presenting designs at customer reviews throughout the development process.Carry out feasibility studies, package checks and reviews for each design.Select, evaluate and apply proprietary components for assemblies and systems to meet customer quality, rationalisation and cost requirements.Maintain concise records and documentation in the form of a project folder to allow complete traceability of the projects development.Create and complete Engineering Change Notes (ECNs).Assist in initiating and maintaining relationships with external suppliers.Support structural designs using simple calculations and FEA software.Support prototype build phase when necessary / support trial builds.Develop and manage BOMS including the selection / approval of materials suitable for fun...
