So, what does the role of a Portfolio & Technical Underwriting Manager here involve?


The role of Portfolio and Technical Underwriting Manager will work closely with the Underwriting Director in the management of the Technical and Operational Underwriting functions of the business. Ensuring service standards are met through effective workflow management. Providing input to the underwriting strategy to help us achieve our business objectives whilst managing binder performance. A focus on ensuring we provide value to our customers and meet our regulatory requirements, you would work with the Underwriting Director and Risk and Compliance Business Partner in completion of tasks to satisfy our Governance Framework, including, but not limited to, annual product reviews and fair value reporting.


You would be responsible for overseeing the technical application and implementation of Personal Lines products, both internally and externally, providing input on automation where appropriate. Leading the internal and external audit and validation processes, with monthly reporting to the Executive Commitee.


This role is a fantastic opportunity for you to join a newly formed MGA at the start of our journey, with a broad role ranging from providing technical underwriting support to the Operational Underwriters, development of new products and enhancement to current schemes, through to supporting the Underwriting Director with the performance management of our binders


What we are looking from you

  • Strong personal Lines underwriting experience, in a technical underwriting capacity, previous portfolio management experience desirable
  • Insurance market knowledge with a desire to keep on top of market trends
  • Strong product knowledge in Household, Motor experience not essential but desirable
  • Analytical, decisive and ability to problem solve
  • Strong team player
  • Capable of meeting deadlines and hit targets as required
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and under pressure
