Transport Operator Night Shift

About The RoleAs a Transport Operator, you'll be helping maintain the smooth, efficient running of our distribution network, ensuring productivity targets, agreed key customer service levels and KPIs are achieved within budget. You’ll help manage the general transport office and support Partners within the Transport teams. When the Transport Section Manager is off duty, you’ll deputise in their absence.Salary: £30,000 - £46,500Contract Type: PermanentWorking Pattern: Responsible for managing Partnership and agency Drivers over 24 hours a day, 7 days a week transport operations. Maintaining full compliance under current EU driving regulations and the Working Time Directive. Ensuring achievement of productivity targets, agree key customer service levels and key performance indicators within cost targets. To ensure health and safety procedures are adhered to. To ensure Partners and agency drivers are treated fairly and with respect. To deputise for the Transport Section Manager in their absence.Key ResponsibilitiesIt's a fast paced and sometimes complex area to work in. Day-to-Day responsibilities will include:Ensuring the health & safety of all those working in the transport team is top priority and the appropriate procedures are adhered to.To brief and debrief Partnership and agency drivers at the start and end of their shiftMaintaining good housekeeping standards.Liaise with warehouse teams to ensure on time load completionEnsuring the operation and those working in it remain fully compliant under EU driving regulations and the Working Time Directive.Effectively manage department resource and optimise the use of establishment hours, encouraging Partner flexibility to deliver efficient delivery of the Transport operationSupporting the management team with their Partners and creating an environment for development.Essential Skills/experience You'll NeedExcellent literacy and numeracy skills.Excellent communication skillsPrevious Supply Chain experiencePrevious transport experienceHigh degree of attention to detail and accuracyDesirable Skills/experience You May HaveGood working knowledge of IT systems (email/Google programmes/Paragon)Manager CPC qualificationFamiliar with vehicle telematics systems, preferably MicroliseFamiliar with transport planning and execution system preferably Microlise or ParagonFamiliar with transport compliance software particularly FTA visionFamiliarity with fleet management software particularly JAMAAbout The PartnershipWe’re the largest employee owned business in the UK and home of our cherished brands, John Lewis and Waitrose.
