The position:


We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our F1 Mechanical Design group, working on a wide variety of projects. Collaborating with the Group Principal / Head of Mechanical Design, you will be responsible for undertaking and guiding a range of designs from initial concepts through to prototype production working closely with other Engineering departments


Responsibilities:


  • Design mechanical, hydraulic, and composite components and assemblies from concept through to detailed design across a variety of systems on the car.
  • Perform background stress and sizing calculations, producing supporting documentation.
  • Conduct design reviews independently or in conjunction with the Principal Engineer or Head of Department.
  • Serve as a point of contact for engineering support, leveraging significant experience.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers within the team.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of projects, including manufacture, build, testing, racing, and fault analysis and resolution, requiring close collaboration with the wider team.
  • Support the checking of detailed drawings, including design review against specifications, previous designs, and competitor analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvement and promote autonomous creativity.


Ideal Candidate Qualifications:


  • In-depth understanding of fundamental engineering principles with experience in a similar role within motorsport.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification supported by design experience in motorsport, aerospace, or a related field.
  • Ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritize work to meet varying deadlines.
  • Strong CAD skills, ideally with experience in Siemens NX (training provided for conversion from other CAD systems).
  • Experience with simulation modeling and basic stress calculations.
  • Data analysis experience is beneficial.
