Role overview:
As a Back-end Developer, you will produce scalable software solutions as part of a cross-functional team responsible for the entire software development life cycle, from conception to deployment. You will integrate with our core delivery team, which is responsible for web, e-commerce, and mobile enhancements. You will work alongside a technical project manager and a technical lead to deliver iterative changes on multiple platforms and optimise back-end development practices with effective, high-quality delivery.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices and backend systems using Golang, Java and NodeJS
  • Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications and optimise existing codebases for performance and scalability
  • Collaborate with product owners, frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Ensure code quality, performance, and reliability through automated testing, code reviews, technical documentation and best practices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and occasionally handling support tickets
  • Participate in system architecture discussions, contributing to decisions around technology stack and best practices
  • Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance to the team
About the candidate:
  • A minimum Bachelor's or Master's degree (2.1 or higher) is required in IT, Computer Science, or in a Technology-related field
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience developing in Golang, Java and NodeJS
  • Proven experience in building and scaling backend systems and APIs as well as a strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps principles, and SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and front-end languages (React, Angular, Next.js) is a plus
  • Experience with version control (Git) and Agile environments
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills
