Hill Barn Golf Club, part of the innovative Maple Leaf Golf group, is now recruiting for the role of General Manager. 

Maple Leaf Golf, known for transforming the golf experience across the UK, is offering a unique opportunity for an experienced and dynamic individual to lead Hill Barn Golf Club.  


Located in the picturesque town of Worthing, West Sussex, Hill Barn Golf Club boasts a rich history as a Fred Hawtree-designed course that opened its fairways in 1935. Renowned for its breathtaking views and exceptional year-round playing conditions, the course is currently undergoing a major redesign – an exciting project for the successful candidate. 


Looking ahead, the group also plan to enhance the facilities further with a new driving range (set for 2025/6), introducing their popular Get into Golf program, which has been a tremendous success across other Maple Leaf Golf sites.

Detailed Responsibilities 


Leading the Team 

· Consistently drive high operational standards 

· Manage recruitment 

· Strive to consistently deliver truly memorable experiences for our customers 

· Lead from the front with regular customer contact and engagement 

· Coach management team to deliver great experiences 

· Chair weekly management meeting and share operation insights 

· Review customer/member feedback looking to use the customer voice to drive continuous improvement 


Financial 

· Take full P&L responsibility 

· Work with Group finance Department  

· Deliver quarterly Directors report 

· Discuss monthly financial report with management team 

· Achieve company KPI’s and develop as business grows 

· Monitor and review F&B margins 

· Assess and evolve staff rotas in relation to business trends 

· Manage and control expenditure 


 Strategy & Vision 

· Identify strategies to attract and retain new customers 

· Regularly review F&B offerings 

· Work with Managers to develop on-going strategy 

· Constantly assess market trends and competitor offerings 

· Work with suppliers to constantly improve our products 

 

Culture & Values 

· Keep site presentation to the highest standards 

· Develop a Continuous Improvement “Kaizen” approach to operations 

· Embody the Deliver +1 customer service company value 

· Maintain regular open communication with the other MLG sites 

· Ensure highest Health & Safety standards adopted. 


Marketing 

· Develop marketing strategy through monthly review of annual plan. 

· Work with Group Marketing Manager to deliver campaigns 

· Drive a culture of on-site content creation 

· Assess effectiveness of past campaigns and evolve for future use
