Role Overview

We are seeking a Data Modeller to join our team. In this role, you will transform business problems into data design solutions by creating and maintaining data models that meet the strategic data needs of our organization. You will ensure these models align with and support the definition of enterprise-wide standards and principles.

Responsibilities

As a Data Modeller, you will:

  • Develop and implement a data modelling standard and framework, outlining key concepts, principles, and best practices suitable for the organization's needs.
  • Design, build, and maintain enterprise data models, meta-data models (both graphical and textual), including subject area models, conceptual and logical data models, and entity relationship diagrams.
  • Reverse-engineer data models from live systems to support the current state analysis and align with future state requirements, creating a comprehensive view of the organization's data landscape.
  • Capture business requirements and understand specific problems to produce data designs based on business needs and data usage.
  • Advocate for data and manage differing perspectives across teams.
  • Translate technical concepts into non-technical language for a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Coach, upskill, and train supporting Data Analysts, and provide guidance to Data Architects and other data management team members as needed.
  • Provide expert advice to business teams on data standards and engage with colleagues early in the design phases of products and services.
  • Undertake data profiling and source system analysis, presenting clear insights to colleagues to support the end use of the data.
  • Provide data architecture assurance on projects or programs as required.
  • Define, implement, and manage master data management, data architecture, and reference data management in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Represent the Data team in projects, working groups, and governance committees.


Person Specification

Essential Criteria:


  • Demonstrable experience in data modelling and data landscaping.
  • Proven experience in data management areas including Data Architecture, Data Modelling & Design, Data Quality, Reference & Master Data, and Metadata.
  • Experience in evaluating, developing, and maintaining metadata repositories, logical data models, physical database structures, and database queries following best practices.
  • Proficiency in using data modelling tools and industry-standard techniques to capture and document data artefacts, with knowledge of data lineage, data usage, and data structures.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical teams.


Desirable Criteria:

  • Certified Data Management Professional (Associate).
  • Experience in data migration planning and implementation.
