Within the BRF the In Vivo Imaging (IVI) Facility offers a suite of cutting-edge multimodal imaging system including micro-CT PET-MR SPECT-CT optical imaging platforms a 9.4T MRI and VisualSonics Vevo3100 and Vevo F2 ultrasound systems.We are now looking for a Senior Laboratory Research Scientist to join the in-vivo imaging team.Within this role you will play a key role in the design execution and analysis of both cardiovascular and oncology-focused ultrasound studies in pre-clinical models.What you will be doingAs a Senior Laboratory Research Scientist your role will include functional cardiac assessment haemodynamic measurements high-resolution anatomical imaging and tumour biology oncology you will be involved in ultrasound-guided injections into target organs for model generation longitudinal monitoring of tumour growth and progression using anatomical and functional imaging and evaluation of therapeutic interventionsAdditionally you will also provide scientific guidance and training to researchers support data analysis and interpretation and may also take full responsibility for conducting ultrasound studies from conception through to completion.If you have research experience knowledge of cardiology and oncology as well as awareness of the pre-clinical research methodologies used wed love to hear from you.Some of your key responsibilities will include: Designing and implement pre-clinical ultrasound imaging studies in cardiovascular and oncology research areasAdvising researchers on imaging strategy study design and technical optimisation to ensure robust and reproducible resultsPerforming high-frequency ultrasound imaging in small animal models including M-mode B-mode Doppler and strain analysesAssessing cardiac anatomy function and haemodynamics in pre-clinical modelsConducting anatomical and functional tumour imaging to monitor growth vascularisation and treatment responsePerforming ultrasound-guided injections of cells or therapeutic agents into target organsAbout youYou will have: (Minimum criteria *)Degree in biomedical sciences Medical biology veterinary medicine or related field *Proven track record in pre-clinical imaging particularly ultrasoundDemonstrated experience working with small animal models in a research settingTechnical expertise in ultrasound imaging in the field of cardiology and/or oncology *Ability to design imaging protocols tailored to specific research objectives *Knowledge of regulatory frameworks for pre-clinical research including the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 and the 3Rs principles *See the full job description hereAbout Working at the CrickOur valuesEveryone who works at the Crick has a valuable role to play in advancing the Cricks mission and shaping our cultureWe arebold.
