The Role:We are seeking an exceptional Safeguarding & Welfare Manager to join our Student Experience team. This is a key leadership role for an experienced safeguarding professional who is passionate about ensuring every learner has access to safe, effective, and timely welfare support. As one of the Colleges Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads , you will lead and manage the safeguarding, welfare and mental health team, embedding a strong safeguarding culture across all campuses and ensuring the highest standards of practice. You will work closely with the Head of Student Experience and DSL, internal colleagues, parents, carers and a wide range of external agencies to coordinate effective support for students, including some of our most vulnerable learners such as Looked After Children, Care Leavers and Young Carers.Key Responsibilities: Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, managing the operational delivery of safeguarding and child protection procedures. Lead, support and performance manage the safeguarding, welfare and mental health team across all sites. Triage referrals through CPOMs and manage the safeguarding inbox, ensuring timely, equitable allocation of cases. Serve as the Colleges designated lead for Looked After Children, Care Leavers and Young Carers, developing tailored support to improve outcomes. Work collaboratively with curriculum and student experience colleagues to ensure integrated and inclusive support for vulnerable learners, including those with SEND. Organise safeguarding and wellbeing campaigns and contribute to tutorial and enrichment delivery. Build strong relationships with external agencies to ensure effective referral pathways. Deliver and support safeguarding training for staff and students. Provide regular reporting, data analysis and trend insights to the Head of Student Experience. Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience: A professional safeguarding qualification (including Level 3 Safeguarding and recent DSL training). Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and working with a range of support agencies. Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, wellbeing practice, Prevent, and contextual safeguarding. Excellent communication skills, strong IT capability and the ability to work with sensitive data accurately. The ability to work flexibly, lead change, build relationships, and uphold the highest standards of safeguarding practice.
