Senior Finance & Payroll Assistant

We are seeking a Finance Assistant to provide essential support to our client's finance department. This role involves a range of financial administration and management tasks, including the processing of in-house payroll. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director and will play a key role in the smooth running of financial operations.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Prepare Sage Accounts input and information for monthly reports.
  • Assist with any Sage queries and ensure all Sage reports are completed each month.
  • Issue monthly debtors lists from Sage for all offices for Directors and Bank.
  • Maintain outstanding creditors spreadsheet for all offices to produce monthly summary.
  • Handle general day-to-day banking/accounts queries as required.
  • Maintain daily cash flow figures from HSBC and report to Finance Director.
  • Produce quarterly VAT returns.
  • Take sole responsibility for entering and checking all aspects of monthly payrolls and pension scheme.
  • Deal with matters arising from payroll system and manually calculate salaries when applicable.
  • Calculate and reconcile monthly PAYE/NI payments to HMRC.
  • Handle general payroll queries and employee salary related queries.
  • Calculate all benefits in kind for P11D’s forms and issue to employees and HMRC.
  • Reconcile all year-end payroll procedures and calculate Class 1A NI due to HMRC.
  • Act as an interface between pension provider and staff.
  • Perform ad hoc duties and responsibilities as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience with Sage Accounts and payroll processing.
  • Strong understanding of financial administration and management.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of VAT returns and PAYE/NI calculations.
