Mechanical Commissioning Technician – Major UK Infrastructure Project Location: Cumbria Contract: 4 months (Likely extension thereafter)  Rate: Negotiable (DOE)  Sector: Nuclear Decommissioning & Clean Energy A nationally significant environmental engineering programme is seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Technician to join the team delivering one of the UK’s most complex and important infrastructure projects. This long-term decommissioning initiative will ensure the safe processing and storage of legacy materials, supporting environmental protection for decades to come. Working closely with the Commissioning Engineer, you will play a hands-on role in preparing, testing, and bringing mechanical systems into operation. This includes process systems, vessels, pumps, and associated plant equipment. Key Responsibilities: Maintain safety as the highest priority, following nuclear, radiological, conventional, and environmental safety procedures. Carry out mechanical commissioning and testing activities across all project stages. Support the preparation of commissioning test documentation. Assist in implementing and tracking First-Off Builds (FOBs) and Technical Queries (TQs). Perform testing activities for third-party witnessing.
