About us

Ocean Energy Pathway (OEP) is a not-for-profit organisation on a mission to accelerate the global clean energy transition by unlocking the immense potential of offshore wind power. We do that by delivering programmes in new markets that build effective collaboration, engage and educate key stakeholders, and offer structured technical assistance to support governments, industry, and civil society to fast-track the development of a sustainable offshore wind sector.

 

Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing, impact-driven organisation playing a pivotal role in the continued growth of offshore wind and the global energy transition.

 

The ideal candidate has brilliant communications, event delivery skills, and a passion for renewable energy, climate, or oceans, even if they haven’t worked in the sector before. Candidates should be self-driven and able to work independently in a predominantly remote-working environment, with some in-person meetings in London. Successful candidates will have a solid background in either the energy industry, organisations working in the nature and oceans space, politics, government, think tanks, civil society, or through related agency or in-house work elsewhere.

 

As the Associate, Communications and Event Delivery, you will be responsible for a diverse global portfolio encompassing event design and delivery, content creation, content management, and media monitoring. As part of an international, multidisciplinary team, you will take on diverse tasks and responsibilities in projects of varied complexity and scale.

 

Reports to: You will report to the Senior Manager, Global Strategy and Projects, and will interact with the broader, matrixed team across strategic and operational functions.

 

Key Responsibilities


Event Design and Delivery (40%)

  • Manage a pipeline of external engagements, including both communications outputs as well as team travel related to external events and conferences.
  • Support the operations team with operations and logistics related to the global team’s travel and external engagements, as well as events or workshops hosted by OEP, ensuring OEP maintains a high-quality, trusted, and consistent image.
  • Project manage all aspects of events, such as writing speaker briefs, concept notes, working with external service providers, etc.

 

Content Creation and Writing (40%)

  • Oversee OEP’s day-to-day brand management and communication needs.
  • Ensure consistent and compelling messaging that aligns with OEP’s mission.
  • Write sharp, engaging copy, including press releases, and collaborate with the team to translate policy materials into communications-oriented products.
  • Support strategic communications objectives, such as in the branding and dissemination of research reports and policy materials to various audiences, and creating communications objectives for OEP events and external engagements.

 

Social Media and Website Management (10%)

  • Develop and curate engaging content for OEP’s LinkedIn account, such as creating and scheduling posts to promote new research, updates, or events, and using Canva (or other tools) to create relevant visual content to support communications objectives while ensuring brand consistency.
  • Manage and maintain OEP’s WordPress website.

 

Monitoring and Analytics (5%)

  • Track and analyse the performance of communication strategies.
  • Provide regular reports on the effectiveness of engagement efforts.

 

Internal Operations (5%)

  • Support the team by disseminating communications materials internally, primarily related to operational activities.
  • Assist team logistics, such as by coordinating in-person meetings.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
  • 3-6 years of professional experience in roles related to communications, marketing, Public Relations, journalism, events management, or a related field.
  • Brilliant writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to various audiences.
  • Familiarity with basic graphic design and social media platforms management tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • An interest in energy, climate change, conservation, international affairs, or diplomacy.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in another language is an asset.
