The Residential Development Team

Their Residential team is one of the largest of its kind, supporting clients across the Living Sector. The firm acts for a variety of clients, including PLCs, regional and SME housebuilders, registered providers of affordable housing, land promoters, and PRS investors & developers. Their expertise in the Living Sector is highly regarded, and they are considered the premier team by both clients and legal directories.

The Residential Development Partner will have the opportunity to work on high-value residential development projects, including house-building, build-to-rent, strategic land, and affordable housing developments.

The Role

The firm is seeking a Residential Development Partner to join their Bristol office. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior lawyer or partner to develop the firm's Housing practice while contributing to the growth of the wider Real Estate offering.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the growth of the Residential Development practice, working on high-value development and investment projects.
  • Developing and sustaining relationships with major clients across the Living Sector.
  • Contributing to the strategic vision and growth of the firm.
  • Mentoring and coaching junior lawyers, ensuring career development opportunities.
  • Driving business development efforts and enhancing the firm's national profile.

What You Will Be Doing

Within the residential development sector, the firm is experiencing significant growth and boasts an impressive list of major clients and panel appointments. You'll have exposure to high-value development work, including conditional and unconditional contracts, option agreements, promotion agreements, development funding agreements, and collaboration agreements.

As a Residential Development Partner, you will:

  • Lead projects in house-building, build-to-rent, and strategic land.
  • Work on residential-led mixed-use developments.
  • Act as a role model for commercial efficiency and innovation in legal services.
  • Play an integral part in developing the firm's residential sector capabilities.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A legal qualification with at least 8 years' post-admission experience.
  • Expertise in the UK living sector and a proven track record of building and sustaining a practice in this field.
  • A strong business development acumen, with the ability to drive growth and foster client relationships.
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills, with the ability to develop junior team members.
  • A commercial mindset, with a focus on efficiency and innovation.
