Import / Export Supervisor

/ Position: Import / Export Supervisor / Location: Bournemouth (Hybrid working can be agreed)/ Working Hours: Full-Time, 40 Hours per weekGama Aviation has a fantastic opportunity for an Import / Export Supervisor to join our talented Supply Chain team based in our modern base facility in Bournemouth. Working under the Head of MRO Logistics and Warehousing and closely with the Head of Procurement and the procurement / Warehousing teams, this role will own and be responsible for the movement of all import and export documentation for all airframe parts imported into the UK in support of the Engineering Maintenance Repair Organisation (MRO), in accordance with HMRC customs regulations.The Import/Export Supervisor will manage the daily international shipping operations to ensure smooth, compliant movement of goods by overseeing documentation (customs, invoices), coordinating with freight forwarders/brokers, tracking shipments, optimizing routes, managing costs (duties/taxes), and enforcing trade regulations, while mentoring staff and communicating with internal/external stakeholders for efficiency and timely delivery.This role requires a dedicated, customs knowledgeable individual to meet the needs of the Company and HMRC. Yes, we fly but we also save lives, provide mission critical intelligence, and build systems that deliver decisive advantage.With operations in the UK, US, Middle East and Hong Kong a career with us can offer travel, personal growth opportunities and the ability for long-term progression in a fast paced and dynamic service industry./ Responsibilities:Ownership for the compliance of all imports and exports in accordance with HMRC Customs RegulationsEnsure accurate and accountable records of all imports / exports are maintainedEnsure the cost-effective movement of parts to meet the needs of the MROManage all imported goods into and out of the UK and ensure the accurate completion of all Customs Declarations, including but not exclusive to:Clearance documentation and declarationsArticulating accurate and acceptable tariffs for the movement of freightArticulating accurate, acceptable and effective commodity codes for the clearance of freightEnsure that all goods imported are imported legally and legitimatelyEnsure customs clearances are obtained quickly and deliveries are made in good timeEnsure all clearances are completed efficiently and against the most cost-effective import quota, tariffs, trade agreements and HM Revenue and Customs regulations to meet the needs of the organisationConduct daily, weekly and monthly reporting as mandated and requested / required by management and HMRCAudit the process regularly to ensure compliance is maintainedSupport the movement of spares to facilitate maintenance checks at external locations worldwideDevelop sustainable relationships with HMRC and all shipping agents as requiredProvide timely updates of all inbound, delayed / in error shipments to the MROEnsure forward planning and coordination with engineering to ensure the smooth flow of sparesTake primary ownership of the Approved Supplier Process in accordance with CAA, QA, ISO and internal proceduresDeliver accurate and representative calculations of supplier failuresEnsure the approved supplier database is reviewed, updated and regulatedEnsure suppliers are accurately recorded and uploaded to the company MRP systemDeliver out of hours AOG support as per the on-call roster/ Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:Demonstrable experience and knowledge of imports processing, IP & OP procedure, declaration and documentationIn depth knowledge of HMRC regimes in line with imports / exports processingAwareness of parts purchasing in line with airworthiness regulations and HMRC customs regulations is highly desirableExperience within an aviation environment is highly desirable, but not essentialExcellent working knowledge of MS Office applications and ability to pick up new systems as requiredCommercially savvy individual who is a skilled negotiator and excellent communicatorAbility to build strong relationships when dealing with all parties, both internally and externally, involved in the import/export processExceptional attention to detail, with a pragmatic and solutions based approach/ In addition to a Competitive Salary, we will offer you:Great Work-Life Balance with our Hybrid Working Policy – 3 days in the office, 2 days from homeCompetitive Group Pension SchemeComprehensive Life Assurance *Comprehensive Income Protection *Comprehensive Travel Insurance *Comprehensive Private Healthcare (after successful passing of probation) *Free Car Parking2 Paid Volunteering Days each calendar year (subject to line manager approval)Investment in Training, Qualifications and Professional Development*(Subject to insurance underwriting)Due to the volume of applications received, only candidates selected for interview will be contacted.
