Job title: Engineering Manager

Location: Portsdown Technology Park, Portsmouth

Salary: Circa £70,000 depending on experience

What you'll be doing:

  • Management of the team's engineering tasks, liaising with the NCSISS - (Naval Ships Combat Systems Integration Services) and Professional Services management teams to determine task priority)
  • Driving adherence to engineering governance and process
  • Ensuring continued Secure By Design assurance of the ISE - (Integration Support Environment)
  • Production and maintenance of Management Plans
  • Production of Statements of Work defining new task scope
  • Driving delivery of engineering-led documentation and other deliverables, including technical reviews and sign-off
  • Monthly CAM and Resourcing reviews
  • Close engagement with the MISC - (Maritime Integration & Support Centre) Senior Technologist to develop and embody future technologies and strategies into the T&T - (Tools & Tech) team

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Sound understanding, backed up by experience, of the systems engineering lifecycle, including both Software & Hardware development, plus transverse engineering (e.g. Security Assurance, ILS)
  • Good understanding of IP networks (protocols, switching & routing) and virtualisation technologies & containerisation
  • Ability to grasp emergent technologies and understand how these can be applied to the existing or future integration tools (e.g. Machine Learning)

Desirable:

  • Leads by example and helps set the tone for the way the work is enacted
  • Proactively leads the T&T team with a significant amount of autonomy and empowerment to deliver the T&T services and outputs

The Naval Ships Combat Systems Integration Services (NS CSIS) Tools & Tech (T&T) team:

This role will lead the engineering tasks carried out by the NS CSIS Tools & Tech team, acting as the team's Engineering Manager, as well as carrying out some of the engineering tasks. The majority of these tasks are associated with the development and maintenance of the Integration Support Environment at the Maritime Integration & Support Centre (MISC), located at Portsdown Technology Park.
