Summary:


Strangford Search has been exclusively retained by a financial services company in their search for a dedicated legal counsel for their team in the City of London.


The company manages a wide range of investments and assets, focussed on the legal sector.


The successful candidate will join a dynamic, collegiate team focussing on high value and complex legal projects in a new and innovative area of legal and financial services. The role will suit a bright, commercially minded lawyer who can adapt to new challenges and a very broad variety of complex work often involving Global, Magic and Silver Circle law firms as well as a range of top tier professionals.


Because of the nature of the work - and unlike many inhouse legal positions - your work as a lawyer will be integral in helping the business pursue its commercial aims. You will never be viewed as simply a ''cost to the business''.


Key Responsibilities:


You will be providing legal support and advice to the business in the following areas:


  • Negotiating, drafting and reviewing a variety of key commercial contracts including financing agreements
  • Corporate and company secretarial matters
  • Regulatory, insurance and operational matters
  • A wider range of general commercial matters


Your background and experience will include:


  • Post-qualification experience of circa 3-5 years
  • Be admitted in England & Wales or another common law jurisdiction with requisite experience as outlined above
  • The right to live and work independently in the UK
  • Experience working on corporate/banking and commercial matters
  • Ideally some litigation/arbitration experience
  • Any knowledge of insurance matters would be a bonus

  • Be keen to work across a wide-range and variety of legal matters and projects and able to adapt quickly
  • Be able to work to exceptionally high standards under time pressure
  • Be able to work independently and as part of the team
  • Be interested in the development of the organisation as a whole including in helping us develop our systems and processes
  • Have outstanding drafting skills covering legal and commercial documents, correspondence and advice
  • Be comfortable liaising with a wide range of stakeholders including senior leaders and stakeholders and clients
  • Be comfortable instructing external legal and other experts, including senior barristers, accountants and forensic experts
  • Have outstanding organisational and project management skills
