Back End Developer

I’m currently working with a financial services company based in Dubai that offers trading and investment solutions. We are seeking a Backend Developer to join our team. In this role, you will build secure, scalable, and high-performance backend systems for our innovative trading platforms.


Responsibilities

  • Write secure, clean code for web applications.
  • Design client-side and server-side architecture.
  • Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications.
  • Write effective, secure and industry accepted APIs.
  • Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency.
  • Supports and troubleshoots existing applications.
  • Evaluates and analyzes business requirements for new systems and system changes.
  • Maintenance and enhancement of existing applications.


Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience with full lifecycle of project development, preferably in fintech or financial services.
  • Strong skills in PHP (symfony/laravel).
  • Extensive experience in software design, architecture, development integration.
  • Solid knowledge of event processing models, multi-threading, enterprise integration pattern, Web Service and REST.
  • Experience with databases such as MySQL, Oracle and Postgre.
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs design.
  • Understanding of MVC design patterns.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process and using collaboration tools, such as Jira, Trello, Slack, etc.
  • Autonomous, critical-thinker & problem-solver with a strong analytical mindset.
  • Experience with containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge on AWS lambda and messaging queue preferred.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Linux knowledge.
  • Distributed/remote/global team working experience.
  • Your active GitHub/NPM portfolio.
  • Familiarity with the whole web stack, including protocols and server-side techniques.
  • Familiar with Server-Side Rendering.
  • Familiar with the source code of one or two famous front-end libraries.
  • Knowledge of TypeScript.
