You will be a focal point for health & safety best practice, providing advice, guidance, assistance, and support to ensure continual improvement and compliance across the Group.This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week.Our promise to you- Competitive salary - 25 days annual leave (full-time working) plus Bank Holidays - Pension scheme - Life insurance - Discretionary bonus scheme - On-the-job training and progression - Recognition scheme - Refer a friend - Flexible benefits, including high street savings, cycle to work scheme, Gymflex membership, and many more - Access to an Employee Assistance Programme and the Best Doctors Service via our Wellbeing PlatformWhat will you be doing?- Advise on all safety, health, and welfare matters to ensure statutory compliance - Keep up to date with relevant legislation and communicate changes - Conduct and review risk assessments, maintaining accurate records - Recommend control measures and advise on PPE standards - Carry out health & safety inspections/audits and prepare reports - Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, recording findings - Advise on training/certification needs to meet legal standards - Support the development and implementation of health & safety plans - Deliver health & safety training and promote a positive safety culture - Liaise with external regulatory authorities as required - Prohibit unsafe work activities where serious risk existsWhat are we looking for?- Essential: Experience in a similar health & safety role - Advantageous: Experience in waste disposal, recycling, collections, or the quarrying industry - NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health (or equivalent) - Member of IOSH - Good knowledge of relevant health & safety legislationPersonal attributes and other requirements- Passionate about understanding and meeting customer needs - Collaborative approach, adding value to decision-making - Strong communication skills at all levels - Problem-solving ability and sound judgement - Flexible and able to respond positively to change - Full UK driving licence - Honest, responsible, and respectful conduct - Compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies - Ability to work independently and as part of a teamAbout usWe are FCC Environment, one of the UKs leading waste and resource management companies.
