Lead Maintenance Engineer Cheshire – Chemical Manufacturing / Petrochemical / Refinery / COMAH - £60k - £70k plus benefits


  • Manage the Maintenance delivery efficiently, effectively and to budget. To ensure the facility is sustainably maintained to provide a reliable production service to the Joint Venture partners in accordance with production unit availability requirements.
  • Responsible for all Maintenance work on the site to be carried out safely, in compliance to all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental regulations (e.g., PTW, waste regulations, risk assessments etc.) and in accordance with company HSSEQ policy.
  • Management of execution of all statutory regulatory inspections including PSSR, LOLER and Compex.
  • Management of CIPS (civil, Insulation, painting and Scaffold) contractors to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Development of maintenance KPIs using new CMMS. With focus on moving to a Proactive versus Reactive Maintenance approach.
  • Drive collaboration between Maintenance and Operations teams to drive a proactive engineering programme.
  • Deputise for Site Engineering Manager in their absence.
  • Become Site Responsible Electrical Engineer.
  • To support the Engineering Manager in developing and strengthening the Maintenance team through a program of staff training, development, and ongoing competency assessment
  • To support the Engineering manager in the planning and delivery of the annual plant shutdown safely, to budget and schedule.


The successful candidate should have:

  • HNC/degree in Electrical Engineering (or Mechanical and Electrical joint qualification).
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer Status.
  • 5 Years Post qualification experience with a focus on Maintenance and Reliability in a petrochemical / oil refining / chemical industrial environment with a sound understanding and practical working knowledge of maintenance and reliability systems.
  • Experience of managing multi discipline teams.
  • Have a strong safety and risk awareness mindset and ability to engage and connect with all staff and contractors effectively to deliver continued improvement and focus on HSE performance.
