Hertfordshires Family Centre Service brings together the Public Health Nursing Service (Health Visitors and School Nurses) and the Family Support Service with the shared purpose of helping children and families to have the best start in life develop well and thrive. We provide families with children aged up to five years a wide range of services information and support on key areas of family life.As a Family Support Practitioner you will work closely with parents and carers including young and soon-to-be parents encouraging their involvement in their childrens learning growth and well-being. The role focuses on supporting the most vulnerable families within the community while building a strong understanding of local demographics services networks and facilities that benefit families in the area.The Role Engaging with and supporting hard-to-reach families. Delivering personalised 1:1 programmes of support to help families achieve the best possible outcomes. Maintaining accurate records requiring a good level of computer literacy. Working collaboratively with partner organisations to deliver holistic support. Occasional evening and Saturday work with centre opening hours from 8:00am to 6:00pm. Enhanced DBS check required. Full UK driving licence and access to a car with business insurance essential for regular travel.Requirements Level 3 or equivalent professional qualification in health education childcare social care or a related field. Strong knowledge of safeguarding children and commitment to child protection. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working with families from diverse backgrounds. This is provided through universal services where there are emerging needs along with when more specialist or 1;1 support would be beneficial. Services can be delivered through 1:1 group sessions and activities accessed within centres community venues or support workers will visit families within their homes to ensure individual familys needs are met. The geographical area we cover includes Broxbourne East Herts and Welwyn and Hatfield Districts (the East Quadrant of Hertfordshire).
