Topographical Surveyor

As a Topographic Surveyor you will be responsible for measuring and mapping the earths surface to aid in the planning and execution of various projects. Your work will involve the use of advanced surveying equipment and software to create detailed topographic maps and models. This role requires a strong understanding of geography mathematics and the physical characteristics of the terrain. You will often work closely with engineers architects and other professionals to ensure that projects are based on accurate and up-to-date geographical information.About the role:Location: Leeds / ManchesterSalary: up to 35 00.00 per annumHours: 7am - 5pm (45 hours per week)21 days holiday bank holidaysLife Assurance schemeAuto enrolment pension schemeFree parking on siteTopographic Surveyor Responsibilities & DutiesConduct field surveys to gather topographic data using GPS total stations and other surveying instrumentsAnalyse survey data to create detailed maps and models of the terrainCollaborate with engineers architects and planners to integrate topographic data into project designsPrepare and present reports charts and presentations detailing survey findingsEnsure compliance with relevant surveying standards and regulationsMaintain accurate records and documentation of survey activitiesPerform calculations to determine areas elevations and distancesVerify the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sitesUtilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze spatial informationProvide technical advice and support to clients and colleaguesStay updated on the latest surveying technologies and methodologiesTopographic Surveyor Qualifications & SkillsProfessional certification as a Land Surveyor (PLS) or equivalent (Preferred)Proficiency in surveying software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or GIS applicationsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAttention to detail and a high level of accuracyPrior experience in topographic surveying or a related disciplineProficiency with surveying instruments such as GPS total stations and levelsKnowledge of topographic and geospatial conceptsAbility to interpret and analyse survey dataFamiliarity with relevant software tools and technologiesStrong mathematical and computational skillsPhysical stamina and the ability to work in various outdoor conditionsValid drivers license and ability to travel to survey sitesAbout the Lanes GroupThe Lanes Group are the UKs largest independent provider of water and wastewater solutions and services we play a vital role in always maintaining the seamless operations of the nations water systems.Formed in 1992 our half a billion-pound turnover ensures continued expansion for market share.
