Delivery Overview In 2025 Char.gy expects to be awarded multiple contracts with Local Government organisations and private landlords to deploy Charging Points (CPs) across the UK and ultimately expect to deploy 100,000 CPs by 2030. The Delivery Team is growing to meet this demand and require an Electrical Design Technician to create and monitor electrical design across the deployed network.Position Overview The Electrical Design Technician role will support char.gys deployment of new charge point infrastructure. Primarily, they will support any and all requirements relating to electrical infrastructure design, capacity assessment connection for new infrastructure deployment (both on-street and private propositions) with a mixture of strong practical experience and a higher level knowledge of electrical design principles.The Electrical Design Technician will report to the Head of Delivery and will work alongside the delivery organisation consisting of Project professionals and Project engineers. They will be required to monitor and engage with DNO regarding EV adoption, feeding information to the CTO / Head of Hardware as required and keeping abreast of the latest developments in electrical engineering. Collaborating across char.gy colleagues to ensure the correct processes and policies are created and adhered to.The work will: LeadCreate the thought leadership using their qualifications and experience to support assessment of the electrical design requirements for EV infrastructure roll-out across all electricity distribution networks, installation design and project management experience. DesignSign off of electrical design elements of charge point installations for both on-street (DNO and highway asset connected) and private installations that require either new DNO connections or integrated connections with a building supply. Manage Suppliersensure assigned suppliers are engaged with clear design instructions with clarity of expectationsProject Informationsupporting the Project Managers by providing accurate design information shared as required to all stakeholders. Managing risks and issues associated to electrical installation design of charge points.Key Responsibilities: Create and maintain standard electrical design documentation and policies for char.gy deployment of network infrastructure The Electrical Design Technician will work closely with the product team, delivery team and suppliers to ensure electrical design is created and implemented as required for char.gy infrastructure roll out Working collaboratively with the customers, DNOs/ICPs and suppliers to ensure electrical design is created to meet requirements in different locations across the UK Located in the Office (London) and balance that with working from home and working in the field on site specific design creation or fault finding Person Specification: Essential A leader in commercial and/or industrial electrical design and installation with strong IT skills to produce clear design and policy documentation Awareness of DNO/ICP structure, documentation and way of working (New connection requirements and grid capacity discussions, compliance). C&G 2365 or earlier equivalents such as C&G 2330, ideally with supporting level 3 NVQ Achievement Measuremet 2 (AM2) Exam C&G 2382-22 18th Edition BS7671 Wiring Regulations C&G 2391-52 Has a track record of creating and maintaining electrical design documentation An outstanding and willing communicator using appropriate written and verbal communications to a varied audience across all Delivery stakeholdersDesirable C&G 2396-01 Engineering Technician (EngTech), or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status would be advantageous. Worked in EV or highways electrical industry ISO 9001 / 14001-aware. Experience with CAD software and MS Office. Experience with electrical design software such as Amtech (Trimble MEP) Worked in a delivery organisations supporting internal and external stakeholders An understanding of working with Local Governments A working knowledge of NRSWA would be a benefitWhat do we offer?
