JOB TITLE: Automation Test Analyst REPORTS TO: Head of Quality Assurance

JOB PURPOSE:

This role will ensure the quality and reliability of the software products or systems being developed. The Automation Test Analyst is responsible for creating and executing automation test suites, coordinating with other team members, and contributing to the overall improvement of the testing process.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Business/Organisational

  • Report into the Head of Quality Assurance.
  • Ensure adherence to the agreed testing strategy.
  • Participates in and adds to requirement analysis and works closely with business analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to understand the software requirements and provide testing input. Also formulate comprehensive automation test plans and strategies, outlining the scope of testing, testing methodologies, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure user stories and acceptance criteria are fully complete and testable.
  • Based on the test plan, the Automation Test Analyst is responsible for designing and developing detailed automation test cases, test scripts, and testing scenarios. These test cases cover different aspects of the software, including functional, performance, security, and regression testing.
  • Executes automation test cases, either manually or through automated testing tools, to identify defects, inconsistencies, and performance issues.
  • Rigorously validate the software to ensure it meets the specified requirements and functions correctly.
  • When defects are discovered during testing, the Automation Test Analyst accurately documents and reports them using a defined defect tracking system. Working collaboratively with developers and other stakeholders to ensure the defects are understood and addressed.
  • Depending on the project's requirements, responsible for creating and maintaining automated test scripts to streamline the testing process and allows for repeated testing of critical functionalities.
  • Contributes to the improvement of testing processes by identifying areas for enhancement, suggesting process improvements, and participating in post-mortem analysis to learn from defects and issues encountered during testing.
  • In scrum testing to prevent defect leakage to downstream testing phases. Such testing will include ensuring the new functionality does not introduce defects that impact existing functionality.
  • Lead in the API testing when required.
  • Proficient in writing BDD framework using Cucumber framework in Gherkin language
  • Providing feedback for the quality gates to the Head of Quality Assurance and Product Owner.
  • Be responsible for executing automated test cases as part of end-to-end flows.
  • Monitor the automation results and raising issues to the project team

Experience, Skills & Competencies required.

Experience

  • Ensuring the testing strategy is adhered to.
  • Experience of working with and managing offshore vendor resources.
  • Experienced balancing multiple priorities at once.
  • Experience of working autonomously and with ownership of outcomes for high-profile, high-impact projects.
  • Developing automation function libraries
  • Proficient in using, Selenium with exposure to Selenium web driver.
  • Good working knowledge of TDD, BDD, Cucumber, Gherkin.
  • Proven aptitude and interest in Java coding.
  • Experience of being an effective communicator that collaborates with developers, business analysts, project managers, and other team members to ensure a clear understanding of requirements and issues.
  • Able to develop strong working relationships and to influence outcomes across the organisation.
  • Have strong technical skills, both functional and non-functional, manual and automation in a continuous delivery environment.
  • Experience in working with JIRA to control scripting and execution of tests.
  • Experience in working with BrowserStack in the execution of tests.
  • Experience in working with JMETER in the execution of performance tests
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps
