Technical Lead

You will be leading a cross-functional team focused on evolving Nando’s Labour Management and Safety Domain. The team is responsible for maintaining a suite of microservices that seamlessly integrate a number of 3rd party services with in-restaurant systems and our online customer experiences.

Your Role

At Nando's, our Technical Leads are at the helm of innovation, steering a diverse array of projects that are the backbone of our bustling restaurant operations and the secret sauce to our exceptional customer experience.



Key Responsibilities

• Agile Team Leadership: Lead a team of passionate engineers and testers through the fast-paced world of restaurant tech, ensuring agile delivery of robust solutions.

• Solution Architecture: Craft bespoke solutions tailored to enhance operational efficiency and customer engagement, employing a tech-agnostic approach to choose the most fitting tools.

• Technical Roadmap Management: Concoct and maintain a strategic technical roadmap, garnished with innovation, ensuring our technology direction supports growth and adds zest to our customer service.

• Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure technology choices are mouth-wateringly integrated with our customer and staff needs.

• Continuous Learning Environment: Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning, where sharing knowledge is as natural as serving chicken.


• Tech Community Engagement: Represent Nando’s in the tech community, contributing to and learning from the wider discourse, ensuring we're always seasoned with the latest trends.

Domains: our team looks after two domains and multiple products:


1. Labour management: our purpose in this domain is to enable effective organisation of labour to ensure adequate capacity, excellent customer service, commercial efficiency and a positive employee experience. This domain includes products like ‘Rota/labour scheduling’ and ‘timesheet’ (clocking in/out); Currently, it also includes services like the ‘Employee Service’;


2. Safety: our purpose in this domain is to assure Nandocas are safe and able to keep customers safe, delivering the best service and the highest quality products, in accordance to the legislation. It includes products and services like Accident Recording, Pest control, safety/quality audits



WoW: The team is empowered to make their own tech decisions and have the freedom to choose/adapt their WoW in order to deliver the best performance possible, keeping the quality high and maximising the value delivered to the business, customers and nandocas. Currently, the team works following the Scrum Framework, w/ 2 weeks sprint.


Roadmap:

• A new labour management tool has been released last September: Rotageek (SaaS). Minor defect management is expected as well as optimisation of its labour engine/demand;

• A new ‘Form builder’ tool is in development. The first use case for it will be ‘Accident, Incident recording’. We are aiming to get this new tool ready for a beta-test by end of Feb/24. Everything going according to plan, the rollout is expected to be completed by end of June/24.

• After accident recording, other use cases could be explored. A few options are: Risk Assessment, Internal/External Audits, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
