You will be leading software project teams to design and document software whilst consistently communicating with stakeholders and other departments to ensure software meets requirements.ResponsibilitiesModel-based design of flight control software using Simulink or similar.Leading the design and maintenance of autopilot simulation software.Coordination and contribution to flight performance studies.Development of flight dynamics models for company products.Oversight and coaching of team members in the use of related software development tools.Collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders to define software requirements.Review of software source code and model designs.Collaboration with other engineering disciplines.Leading test and test recording to ensure correct operation of software and that requirements are met.Lead the software team within individual projects to deliver activities to agreed cost and schedule.Support the Project Manager in scoping defining and estimating project tasks.Demonstrate in daily activities a commitment to health and safety in the workplace by always ensuring tasks are performed in the safest possible mannerReport all hazards and incidents that the individual is party to or observes in the correct manner.When required or directed participate in any health and safety training.Perform other duties where required.About YouQualificationsBSc or MSc degree in an Engineering related subjectSkills and competencies EssentialExperience in designing and documenting control systems.Deep understanding of aeronautics and control theory.Considerable experience of designing and documenting software.Experience using MATLAB & Simulink.Knowledge of a variety of programming languages and tools.DesirableUnderstanding of real time and embedded software.Knowledge of safety related engineering practices.Leadership and mentoring of software engineers.Previous experience or interest in UAVs.Personal AttributesMust be a British Citizen or have an existing right to work in the UKAbility to commit to occasional national and international travelExcellent communicatorExcellent problem-solving abilityAbility to work well in a teamEnthusiasm for their work and self-motivatedAbility to hold Security Clearance 5 years residence in the UKPlease click here to read our privacy noticeCallen-Lenz is an equal opportunities employer committed to building an inclusive working environment.
