Senior Merchandiser

Founded by sisters, Molly and Harriet in 2013, Secret Linen Store has a passion for finding fabulous fabrics for bedrooms, offering a wide and colourful range of bedding, curtains, accessories, nightwear and towels. Our products are comfy, stylish, designed to last and all ethically made by our factory friends in Europe. ​

Our team of talented bedmakers are based out of our Bedquarters in Bognor Regis (where you’ll find our Warehouse and Customer Happiness Teams) and everyone else can be found in our offices just south of Chichester. ​


Job Summary

Our Senior Merchandiser will play a fundamental role in planning and managing the Commercial (Merchandising) Team’s department KPIs including sales, margin and stock.

You will provide strong guidance on business deliverables and be proactive in optimising our ways of working in order to achieve our ambitious growth targets. This role works closely with other teams, influencing and shaping business decisions with our Channel Sales, Operations, Marketing and Product,

You will be report directly into the Commercial Director and you will manage the Merchandising Assistant and the Merchandising Admin Assistant ensuring maximum efficiencies in all our processes.


Job Responsibilities

  • Strategic product development,​ financial target proposals and implementation of product ranges.
  • Detailed analysis and seasonal sign offs to directors and other stakeholders across the business.
  • Process improvement to embed new process and review current ones ensuring we are efficient and effective in everything that we do.
  • 'Make Things Better' by creating new sales -driving strategies & processes.
  • Assessing & approving monthly sales & stock forecasts, challenging the team to reduce risks & maximise opportunities.
  • Be accountable for achieving all stock holding, intake and availability targets.
  • Develop seasonal & promotional pricing strategies to meet sales and margin expectations.
  • Manage and develop the Merchandising team, ensuring a collaborative and innovative team environment that is always seeking to improve.
  • Build, maintain and manage the strong relationships with our fantastic suppliers in both Portugal and UK, to negotiate terms, manage timelines, and ensure optimised processes and ways of working.
  • Work cross-functionally with all departments across the business to successfully land ad-hoc projects and initiatives.
  • Applying a social and environmental lens to everything and supporting our goal to be the most responsibly sourced, B- Corp certified, bed linen brand.

About the Candidate

You will have:

  • Either a degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years+ merchandising experience in fashion or home retail.
  • Proven management skills, leading a team.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data insights for strategic decision making.
  • Proficiency in merchandising tools and software e.g. excel, inventory management systems, e-commerce platforms.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Critical thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset who wants to influence and contribute to shaping our fast-growing business from within.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional team's


This is a full-time hybrid position based in Chichester 3 days per week with a starting salary of £50,000k.
