The Opportunity


We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Building Surveyor to join our team in Reigate.


As a Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting inspections and assessments of properties to ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards. You will play a critical role in ensuring that buildings are safe, functional and meet the required standards.


This role is responsible for providing feasibility studies and design solutions for building maintenance and minor works projects to ensure a seamless delivery.


Key Outputs include:


Ensuring that budgets and resources are optimised to best effect and to drive value from the client’s portfolios.


Being part of a wider technical maintenance team and having a fantastic ability to work with a range of different stakeholders and partners.


Carrying out this role and the duties required under NEC and JCT forms of contract.


Ensuring appropriate systems and procedures in place are utilised to effectively manage and control the delivery standards, inform and control budgets, forecast programming and undertake planning.


Preparing feasibility studies and recommendations.


Scoping, estimating and presenting reports.


Undertaking surveys, design and specification services.


Respecting and help to deliver services in accordance with best practice (and all legislation) in relation to asbestos, health and safety etc.


Preparing a timely and effective post contract administration and final account agreement.


Taking personal responsibility for service delivery.


Interfacing with the client and other consultants at all project stages.


Ensuring that key information and learning generated from each commission is input into the internal database.


Assisting with new technology for data capture and reporting.


Qualifications


Degree/ HNC or equivalent, or substantial relevant experience in a relevant subject.


May require a specialist technical qualification or membership of an appropriate professional institution.


Educated to minimum of HNC / HND or relevant degree level and ideally working towards membership of CIOB or RICS.

Relevant industry experience.


Comprehensive understanding of subject matter, legislation, principles and practices relevant to the technical area.


Ability to apply project management principles and techniques to manage a range of projects through to completion.


Proven ability to establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.


Written and oral communication skills with the ability to influence and work in collaboration with others.


Ability to understand, meet and exceed customer expectations.


Problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise high levels of initiative to devise and implement workable solutions.
