OVERVIEW:Are you our next Head of Data PlatformWere looking for someone to join our Tech Engineering team tosupport the development of Gymsharks data platform data science and data platform capabilities to deliver a deep accurate reliable and continuously improving understanding of Gymsharks business and customers.Currentlyin a senior data or technical leadershiprole you will have a strong knowledge of data platform technologies and excellent leadership skills with an ability to drive actionable data-driven insights influencing senior decision makers delivering positive business results.WHAT YOULL BE DOING:Leading coaching and developing the data platform data science and developing ML/AI capability at GymsharkDevelopment of a data strategy that aligns with Gymsharks commercial goalsProviding Gymsharks data platform to support our insights analytics and ML/AI capabilitiesThe development of standardised process and practices to maximise the efficiency effectiveness and quality of data platform and data infrastructureEnsuring consistency in analytical data science and data platform standards definitions methodologies across the global and data communityProviding day to day support to the team; giving clear direction on responsibilities objectives and development plans ensuring they are delivering against each areaDocumentation of our data assets ensuring we understand what data we store how they can access it and what it represents (such as a data dictionary ERDs for data systems etc.)Personal and professional development of all data teamsPutting Gymshark on the leading edge of applied data disciplines through the trialling and adoption of appropriate new methodologies and toolsContinuously assessing our analytics data science and data platform toolkit ensuring it is fit for purpose and enables market leading and forward-thinking initiativesFostering a culture of continuous learning sharing and development Encouraging a culture of belonging that everyone wants to be part ofWHAT YOULL NEED:Essential Criteria:Extensive experience in a data platforms data infrastructure or operationsStrong knowledge of data platform technologies (we use SQL Python Terraform GCP Looker)A core understanding of machine learning analytics and data platform concepts (predictive modelling forecasting clustering data quality ETL data lakes etc.)Knowledge of relevant programming languages (SQL. Python Java etc.) and their application in data analytics data science data engineering or related fieldKnowledge of the technical skills throughout data analytics science and engineeringDemonstrable knowledge of appropriate data ingestion and storage patterns (we use things like pub/sub and dataproc with BigQuery and Iceberg tables) and still have some batch and FTP things laying aroundAbility to lead effectively through coaching personal and professional development plans and effective feedbackAbility to delegate support coach and direct and know when and how to adopt each appropriatelyExperience of delivering actionable data-driven insight that has influenced senior decision makers delivering positive business resultsExperience distributed stakeholder management (UK EU US) Experience collaborating with stakeholders to deliver commercially valuable solutionsAbility to influence senior decision makers specifically on the impact and opportunities that data-disciplines can deliverAbility to effectively prioritise workload for your team understanding which projects will drive the most commercial value and ensuring your team works efficiently on all projects.Ability to manage high pressure projects and balance conflicting business goalsKnowledge of the technical skills throughout data analytics science and engineeringExperience with challenging methodologies and approaches within and outside your preferred domain to ensure the right techniques are used to complete projects.
