Butler Ross are supporting a large multinational defence organisation with the recruitment of a permanent Category Manager to work across variety projects with a specific focus on Directs. This opportunity operates on a hybrid working basis of 2-3 days/week on site - and is offering a genuinely competitive salary and benefits package; which can be discussed openly at point of application.

Your repsonsibilities will include:

  • ensuring the most up-to-date knowledge of the supplier market, relevant to the catergory, including new technologies and innovations
  • Leading major / business critical supplier selection exercises, as well as the DI&M (Development, implementation and monitoring) of category strategies.
  • End to end performance of the acquisition process
  • Continuous improvement and supplier relationship and performance management within the category
  • Mastering economic models for the category so that increased value can be added to the company and the supply base.

Ideally you will have experience with the following:

  • Proven experience in direct procurement categories (ideally with a technical/engineering background or related sector)
  • The development, implementation and management of category strategy initiatives.
