The Role
As a Full Stack Engineer (Backend Focus), you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems in Python to power the company's AI-driven platform. While your primary focus will be on backend development, a basic understanding of frontend technologies will be beneficial for effective collaboration with the wider team. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions that enable the business to scale and offer real-time, data-driven insights to financial advisors.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement cloud-native backend architectures using Python, ensuring scalability and security.
- Develop and optimise RESTful APIs and GraphQL interfaces to support seamless integration.
- Integrate AI/ML models for financial data analysis and insights, working alongside data scientists to drive product innovation.
- Implement robust security measures to safeguard sensitive financial data and comply with industry regulations.
- Create event-driven systems for real-time financial data processing, enhancing system responsiveness.
- Optimise backend services for high-performance and low-latency operations, ensuring the system can handle large volumes of financial data.
- Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure smooth integration of backend services with the user-facing platform.
- Participate in code reviews, providing mentorship to junior developers and fostering best practices across the team.
- Work cross-functionally with design, product, and data teams to deliver innovative solutions and features.
Required Qualifications
- B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of development experience with a focus on backend technologies.
- Expertise in Python and its ecosystem, including frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
- Strong proficiency in database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, NewSQL), with a solid understanding of data management principles.
- Experience with cloud-native application development on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- In-depth knowledge of security best practices for financial applications.
- Proven experience with microservices architecture and design patterns.
Great to Have
- Basic understanding of frontend technologies (e.g. JavaScript, React, Angular, or Vue.js).
- Familiarity with AI/ML model integration in production environments.
- Experience with event-driven architectures (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools.
- Understanding of the FinTech domain and financial services.
- Experience in tackling high-scalability challenges and developing solutions in complex environments.
- Proven ability to work effectively in distributed teams.
