Community Works Operative / 360 Wheeled Excavator OperatorInvernessTemporary to 19th July 2024 with potential extensionPay rate: £12.96 per hourHours: Monday - Friday variable between 7.00am and 6.00pmOur public sector client located in Inverness is looking for Community Works Operatives on a temporary basis starting immediately. You will require your own safety boots for this position, however all other necessary PPE will be provided by the client.Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To work as a part of a team in the Transfer Station managing incoming and outgoing waste products with colleagues
  • Loading trailers with household waste and co-mingled recycling waste for onward transport
  • To operate all plant equipment required for the general operation of the transfer station
  • Daily checks on all plant and any other equipment used in the facility using defect reporting
  • Daily inspection of the building apron and hard standing surfaces taking remedial action where required and formally reporting this daily noting issues or problems and providing options for remedial action
  • Work and direct traffic in and out of the facility as required in a safe and orderly manner and formally provide continuous improvement solutions/actions to the Foreperson
  • Professionally collaborate and effectively communicate with all third-party contractors and internal RCV drivers negotiating site movement and scheduling
  • Daily housekeeping inside building and outside buildings
  • Play a crucial role in the movement of waste and materials from the Highlands
  • Use computer systems and documentation processes to record and manage weight data and be responsible for accurately recording and managing the weights of incoming and outgoing vehicles for billing, compliance, and reporting purposes
  • Any other work as directed by your Foreperson
Key Skills and Experience:
  • CITB operators' certificate
  • In date operator tickets for 360 Wheeled Excavators and Wheeled Loading Shovels essential
  • Team player
  • Proven communication experience with outside organisations and internal partners
  • Must have Scottish National Fours or Fives or equivalent
  • HGV Licence would be advantageous
  • Manual Handling Certificate desirable
