English Teacher (SEND High School)

Location: Skelmersdale

Contract: Maternity Cover (12 months)

Start Date: Between November and December 2024

Tradewind Recruitment are working with an SEND Secondary School based in Skelmersdale to recruit a dedicated and passionate English Teacher. The role is for a 12 month maternity cover.

About the Role:

As an English Teacher in our client school, you will work with students aged 11-16 who have a range of special educational needs, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. You will be responsible for delivering tailored and engaging English lessons that meet the diverse needs of the students, fostering both academic progress and personal development.

While this role is based in a secondary school setting, we also welcome applications from primary teachers who have a passion for SEND education and hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated English lessons that engage and support students with SEND.
  • Work closely with the SEND team to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and provide additional support where needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to ensure the holistic development of students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide feedback to both students and parents.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience working with SEND students is highly desirable.
  • Flexibility, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting the educational and emotional needs of SEND students.
  • Experience with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs would be a strong advantage.
